About Me

About Me
I’m a gym rat by early morning, a sales representative by day, a software engineering student by evening, and a bug bounty hunter by night... unless I'm gaming, then I'm just a gamer by night. Now back to the bugs; No, I don’t get paid to hunt bugs — but I do spend way too much time finding the ones I accidentally create.
By day, I’m all about selling things (mostly tech stuff, but I’m really good at selling people on random ideas too, like what if you could just take a picture of your food and an app will tell you all the macros). By evening, I’m diving into code and school like it’s my second home, learning new languages (the kind computers speak), and working towards my goal of becoming a software engineer.
I’m fluent in Python, Java, TypeScript, SQL, and HTML/CSS, though I admit, I still haven’t figured out how to make my computer do my laundry. Oh, and I can speak very little Spanish (muy poquito).
I’m also AWS Cloud Practitioner certified — because I like to make things disappear into the cloud, even though I’m still waiting for the day when all my problems will just vanish there.
My Journey Thus Far
Discovering Code
Like many my age, my first coding experience was customizing my Facebook page. But the first time I truly enjoyed coding was in 2008, I was in eighth grade. I’d download scripts onto a USB flash drive, upload them to my PS3, and voilà — my CoD4 clan tag had a custom color.
Dipping My Toe In
Fast forward to 2019 — I was bouncing between jobs I didn’t love (classic millennial move). I wanted a career I’d actually enjoy, which led me to coding and eventually web development. I started learning HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript but didn’t pursue it further, thinking I needed a degree or to attend a bootcamp — neither of which I could afford.
From I Can't to I Will
Fast forward to 2022 — I’m working a corporate sales job. It’s fun, but it’s not me. I crave creativity. I want to build websites and applications. So I turn to google and after hours of research (like I do with any big decision), I discovered WGU. I applied, got accepted, and started my first semester on April 1st, 2022.
Full-Time Software Engineer Student
Fast forward to today — I’m still in my corporate sales job, but I’m also a junior at WGU. I’ve become proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with solid knowledge of Python (my degree’s main backend language), PHP, TypeScript, MySQL, Angular, and more. I’ve built multiple websites from scratch, applications using API's and am ready for the next step.
Becoming a Developer
Here’s where you come in. I’m 31, with a true passion for coding. I’m great with Google, I embrace challenges, and love seeing my code come to life on the screen. As Socrates once said, "You never know the potential of a person until you give them the opportunity to shine."
